It follows confirmation this morning that the Chancellor will announce the funding package to build the new state-of-the-art facility in the coastal town in his Budget statement today.
The facility will be available for use by the local community and by members of staff at the nearby HMNB Clyde base at Faslane.
It follows intensive lobbying by the local Scottish Conservative candidate and Argyll and Bute councillor Maurice Corry, and by Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson who both championed the suggestion by the local council to get central government support.
Based on the Helensburgh Pier Head - an integral part of the town’s waterfront - the new facility will benefit local residents in the town and surrounding areas who rely heavily on the naval base for their jobs, businesses and livelihoods.
It will also provide more activities for the families of servicemen and women based on the Clyde.
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson said:
"Helensburgh is a town that's on the up and a new pool at the heart of the waterfront development will be a huge boost to the local area.
"I'm so pleased the Chancellor was able to get behind this project, which will provide first class leisure facilities for both military personnel and their families, as well as local residents.
“We are committed to supporting our naval base and investing to secure thousands of people’s livelihoods and this announcement by the UK Government is further proof of that promise.”
Scottish Conservative candidate for Dumbarton, Cllr Maurice Corry said:
"This project really demonstrates our wish to see more integration between Military and Civilian communities on the Clyde. It also reinforces our commitment to the Armed Forces Community Covenant.
"By doing this, the Armed Forces Personnel serving at HMNB Clyde, Faslane and their families will benefit from the excellent facilities it will provide.
“Furthermore it will strengthen the integration of the communities even more."
