She spent the morning learning more about the club's programmes which support young people, the vulnerable and those with complex needs.
The club's Outreach programme acts as a Centre of Excellence in the town, co-ordinating the efforts of local charities to offer healthy activities and meaningful activities.
Ruth said:
"The community outreach programme at Hamilton Accies is truly inspiring. Their work with the young, the vulnerable and those with complex needs is an example of how clubs can make their communities a stronger, happier place.
"The work they do in rehabilitation for ex-offenders and to help those with addictions is a template for others to follow. In our manifesto, we have a commitment to support the third and charitable sector in working with those leaving prison to help them.on the straight and narrow and the Accies programme is a tremendous example of such work.
"As Hamilton says, this is so much more than just a football club.
"I came here today to show my support for their efforts. What government can do is to support more of these projects right across Scotland, so that all society benefits."
