Scottish Conservative MSP Maurice Golden is seeking support from all parties for his call for Fifa – the world governing body – to overturn the controversial decision.
A public petition has already collected tens of thousands of names, and both the Scottish and English football associations have appealed for a change of heart.
Next Friday’s crunch World Cup qualifier at Wembley is the first time Scotland and England have met competitively since 1999, and coincides with Armistice Day.
Scottish Conservative deputy chief whip Maurice Golden said:
“It’s obvious for all to see that wearing a poppy to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice is not a political statement.
“Fifa should overturn this bizarre decision immediately.
“The fans, players and football associations on both sides of the border want to be able to wear the poppy with pride.
“I hope MSPs across all parties back this motion and call for an urgent rethink.”
