Speaking on St Andrew's Day, party leader Ruth Davidson said that to genuinely “protect Scotland's interests”, the SNP must firstly champion our access to the UK single market - and do nothing to create barriers to the country's most important trading area.
The SNP must also commit to supporting Britain's aim to be a beacon for free trade and to ensure that the plans it sets out over the coming weeks are both practical and deliverable.
The Scottish Conservatives are also urging the SNP to ensure its Brexit plans honour both the UK-wide result of the 2016 referendum, and the independence referendum two years earlier, when two million Scots voted to remain within the union.
It comes with the SNP government's Brexit group preparing to publish its own paper before the end of the year, when it is expected to raise the possibility of a separate deal for Scotland.
The Scottish Conservatives have set up their own expert group which is preparing its own findings on how Scotland can best overcome the risks posed by Brexit - and take advantage of the opportunities it provides.
The five key Brexit tests set out by the party today are to:
1. Maintain the integrity of the UK domestic market, worth four times more to Scotland than the EU market
2. Create no new barriers to trade within the UK
3. Position the United Kingdom to be a global beacon for free trade, forging deeper links with growth markets around the world.
4. Be practical and deliverable
5. Respect the democratic outcomes of the Scottish referendum on independence in 2014 and the UK referendum on EU membership in 2016
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson said:
"I voted Remain in the referendum and wanted a different result to the one we had. But the task now is not to mope about what might have been, but to work out what comes next.
"For a Scottish Government, that means making the best of Brexit, not using it to crank up support for yet another independence referendum.
"Our five tests will mean that the Scottish Government is focused on what’s good for Scotland – not what’s good for the SNP.
"That means championing the integrity of the UK domestic market, and ensuring we do not create trade barriers between Scotland and the rest of the UK.
"It means playing our part in making the UK a beacon of free trade around the world.
"The Scottish Government's plan must be practical and deliverable. And lastly, it should honour the results of both the referenda we have taken part in: to keep Scotland in the United Kingdom, and to leave the European Union.
"The SNP does not have the right to launder the votes of Remain voters in Scotland into tokens of separatist support.
“Our five tests will mean that the Scottish Government is focussed on what’s good for Scotland – not what’s good for the SNP at the expense of the country."
